Tom Smart, Chartered Financial Planner

I’ve worked with high-net-worth clients since I entered the industry in 2016, providing holistic solutions for my clients’ and their families’ financial planning needs. I enjoy building a personal working relationship with my clients to help construct long-term strategies to achieve their goals.

Through effective management and detailed cashflow planning, my aim is to provide peace of mind over my clients’ financial affairs, and to reduce the administrative burden so that they can reclaim time and concentrate on what matters most.

Outside of the office, I enjoy watching Formula 1 and football – and as a passionate snowboarder, being a nuisance on the slopes.

I began my career in financial planning in 2021 after graduating from Loughborough University with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics. I joined Heronsgate Capital in 2023 and I am currently working my way towards Chartered advisor status.

I enjoy building strong relationships with clients and providing support to our team of Chartered advisors to provide peace of mind to clients in their path to achieving their financial goals.

I spend a lot of time trying to navigate the city having moved to London from the South Wales Valleys and enjoy attending concerts, cinema, and the gym.

I work within the Investment Team, helping to monitor and develop our investment proposition.

Before joining Heronsgate, I graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Economics and following this obtained a Masters in Finance and Investment from Durham University.

As an avid rugby fan, you’ll find me at Twickenham most weekends. I also love to ski during the winter and to slice my way round the golf course over the summer.

I hold an Economics and Business Studies degree from the University of Manchester and a Masters in Finance from the University of Bath, which I passed with distinction.

I’m new to London so am enjoying weekends spent sightseeing and getting to know the city.

I have over 12 years of experience in Office Management and Executive support roles in a range of industries including Government, Tech, and Marketing. Working at Heronsgate was my introduction into Financial Services where I have learned a lot and witnessed first-hand what excellent financial advising looks like.

In 2011, I graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a bachelor’s degree in history and politics.

Outside of work, I have 2 young boys who keep me very busy. When I have free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking and gaming.

With 15 years of experience in wealth management, including a role at an international firm in Dubai, I am currently working towards achieving Chartered status.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring new cities and appreciating art through gallery visits.

My responsibilities at Heronsgate Capital cover all aspects of managing client service, with a focus on robust and efficient delivery. Before this, I spent 10 years working in financial services across a range of roles.

I hold the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and am working towards the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification. I graduated from the University of Kent in 2009.

Outside of work, I keenly follow non-league football and enjoy socialising with my friends and family.

I joined Heronsgate Capital upon moving to London from Northern Ireland, where I had spent just over a year working at an Independent Financial Advisers. During that time, I developed a solid understanding of financial planning, which I aim to build upon further in my role.

Having completed the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, I am now focused on achieving Chartered status.

I enjoy staying fit through the gym, running and swimming. My weekends are spent watching Tottenham and enjoying the occasional meal out.

As a member of the paraplanning team at Heronsgate, I assist advisers and conduct background analysis. Before joining Heronsgate, I started my career in finance at an independent financial advisory firm in my hometown, where I learned the fundamentals of financial planning and earned my Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning. I am now working towards my Level 6 Chartered status.

My passion for finance has been a constant, culminating in a degree in Economics and Finance, which I completed in 2021. Having recently moved to London, I’m enjoying the adventure of exploring the city. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, trying out new recipes, and watching football.

Outside of work, I like to explore different creative outlets, be it sewing, baking, pottery, painting, or music, and always enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.
